1. Introduction

SEDC Social and Recreation Club or better known as PEDAS was formed on 25 January 1978 [No. Pendaftaran 12/78 (Sarawak)].

2. Objectives of the Club

  1. To promote recreational, social interest, goodwill, friendship and understanding among members;
  2. To provide the necessary recreational and social facilities;
  3. To afford financial relief and assistance to members in distress on compassionate grounds;
  4. To raise funds to enable the members to improve the standard of sports and social activities for the benefits ofmembers; and
  5. To promote mutual help and social harmony among members.

3. Membership

The membership consists of staff of SEDC, residing in Menara SEDC and/or seconded to companies, attached or transferred to any related companies of SEDC or any other statutory body or government department or agency.

6. Activities

(a) Group Blood Donation

Held once in 4 months (i.e 3 times a year).  Donors are made up of SEDC staff and staff of SEDC and subsidiary and associate companies and staff of SEDC 2 city hotels (Riverside Majestic & Grand Majestic].

(b) Students’ Excellence Award

Award in the form of cash given to students (children of members of PEDAS) with excellent result in UPSR, PMR, SPM and STPM.

(c) Educational Trips

PEDAS organises annual Educational Trip to SEDC counterparts in Semenanjung Malaysia.

(d) Charity sales

PEDAS participates in charity sales of work.  The proceeds would be donated to the charitable organization who coordinated the event.

(e) Health/Motivational/Educational Talk

PEDAS incites professional speakers to give motivational/ health/educational talk to its members and to the children of PEDAS members.  The event is organised once or twice quarterly every year.

(f) Saturday Togetherness

PEDAS organises Saturday outings for its members and families 3-4 times yearly to a place of choice.

(g) Sukan Gemaputera

PEDAS coordinates SEDC's participation in a game carnival for SEDCs called “Sukan Gemaputera”. The SEDCs/agencies take turn to organise the carnival once in 2 years.
                           
(h) MAKSAK

PEDAS participates in sports/games coordinated by MAKSAK.

(i) Bereavement

PEDAS donates cash to its members’ demised family members.
