KiJCHING: Chief Minister Pehin Sri Haji Taib Mahmud together with staff of Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) held breaking fast dinner with 150 orphans from the Sarawak orphans Welfare association (Peryatim) at Grand Margherita Hote, yesterday evening.

The orphans were treated to the hotel's 'Macam-Macam Ada' buffet which featured 188 dishes ranging from Malay traditional dishes to Western, Chinese and Japanese dishes.

Besides the food, the orphans were also given goodie bags as well as 'duit raya' by SEDC.

At the event, Deputy Minister of Tourism and Heritage, Datuk Haji Talib Zulpilip, who is also SEDC Chairman, presented a cheque for RM397, 988.95 to the Chief Minister, who received it on behalf of Tabung Baitumal Sarawak.

The amount represented business `zakat' or alms given by SEDC for charitable cause.

Also present at the dinner were state Cabinet ministers and members of the State Legislative Assembly.
