RIVERSIDE Majestic Hotel has come up with a new look, ambience and quality of service as it strives to remain the preferred choice and make a mark in Sarawak's hospitality market.
Efforts to create this new identity commenced early this year with a makeover focus on the lobby, Club Lobby Lounge and Cafe Majestic coffee house.
The lobby now exudes a sleek, modem and yet local look. The seating area is comfortable, versatile and adds to the lobby's vibrancy.
Present at the lobby is a wonderful blend of local materials and imprints of native design on transparent alabaster.
Also installed in the lobby is a dispenser that exudes a pleasant scent through the air-conditioning duct at regular intervals throughout the day, providing a personal touch to the guest's experience.
The Club Lobby Lounge on the same floor is more spacious now.
Ceiling-to-floor glass panels line the outer walls, allowing natural lights to filter in while offering a wonderful view of the city space and the nearby river.
The seats come in a variety of forms from two Beaters, sofa seats and lounge chairs to high chairs in the bar area.
The lounge follows a natural wooden theme with the centerpiece featuring two lounge tables made by stacking two large pieces of ‘belian’ wood on top of each another.
On the first floor, the Cafe Majestic houses 108 seats in a linear-style kitchen aimed at showcasing the chefs' culinary skills while promoting a personalised dining experience for guests.
The use of native imprints and timber is also significant at the cafe.
Riverside Majestic is one of two hotels owned by Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) in the city centre. The other is the nearby Grand Margherita Hotel.
The makeover was celebrated with a dinner on Thursday night.
SEDC chairman Datuk Talip Zulpilip said the makeover would allow the hotel to stay on the competitive edge when it comes to the best standards of service and up-to date products.
He said the hotel had introduced innovative measures to enhance guest satisfaction. "The mobile booking website enables room reservations to be done within minutes while on the go, avoiding the hassle of tedious phone calls and filling up forms at the hotel counter," he added.
