SeDidik's 59th centre was officially launched on January 24, 2010 on the 4th floor of Boulevard shopping mall. SeDidik is a pre school education provider in Sarawak and its curriculum helps the children to have better development in both academic and physical fields. SeDidik is also a fully owned subsidiary company of Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC). The launching ceremony was done by YB Datuk Hj. Talib Zulpilip, Assistant Minister of Tourism and Heritage Sarawak. About 200 people attended the ceremony whereby it consists of Sedidik's staff and families of the children who attend SeDidik daycare centre. The 59th centre would offer drop in serives whereby parents can leave their children in the centre for a couple of hours in order for them to browse around the shopping mall for awhile. This service is offered mainly for those parents who would like to have some time for themselves while shopping in Boulevard, but wants to have a peace of mind thinking that their children are in safe hands. This is offered by the staff of Sedidik@Boulevard daycare centre where all the teachers are fully certified and experienced to handle children from any group of age. YB Datuk Hj. Talib Zulpilip informed that this joint venture between SeDidik and Boulevard shopping mall is the first collaboration in preparing daycare services in shopping malls in Sarawak. He also explained his hope that in the future, more centres will be opened in other shopping malls in order to cater the needs of the parents who might want to shop or browse around shopping malls with the peace of mind that their children are in safe hands. Although the new centre has introduced the drop in service, it still offers daycare services for the staff in Boulevard at a special rate. Therefore, the staff can drop their children there before their shift starts and come to collect their children by the end of the day. The centre is opened daily from 7.45am until 9pm. A special privilege is also given to the children daycare services where they are allowed to enter a nearby playground for free everyday. This privilege is provided by the shopping mall centre in order to help the children to have more space around them to do physical activities which in the end would also help their physical development. After the launching ceremony, YB Datuk Hj Talib Zulpilip was given a tour around the newly established centre to experience for himself the environment of the new centre. The children were found happily engaged in their activities of the day such as baking biscuits, dancing and reading. YB Datuk Hj. Talib Zulpilip also spent some time with the children in their activities. In the end, he expressed his confidence that the centre has proved to be efficient enough to start operation. He also expressed his hope that SeDidik will try to open new centres in other shopping malls in the future. Although it has only started operation, the staff of SeDidik@ Boulevard centre has given positive attitude toward the success of the ceremony and promised to give it their all in order to make sure that the children of the daycare will receive enough, if not the best, attention from them to help their development.
