'SeDidik English Day' programme on March 7 Print E-mail
BINTULU: SeDidik English Day programme will be held on March 7 (Sunday) at bangunan Yayasan SeDidik Mutiara and Kampung Jepak community hall here from 8pm to 1pm.

This programme is part of several activities to promote greater awareness and interest among the children to read more books particularly in English, said the programme spokeperson who is also SeDidik Perdana supervisor Maraini Jaafar.

Big Crowd expected at special two-day fest Print E-mail
KUCHING: A two-day festival dubbed "Pesta Nostalgia Permaidani Kampung Boyan-Gersik-Sourabaya (BGS)" to be held at the Medan Niaga Permaidani Kampung Boyan-Gersik-Sourabaya (BGS), Petra Jaya here on March 19 and 20 is expected to attract a big crowd.

The festival, from 10 am to 10.30 pm on both days, is jointly organised by Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SDEC) and Ministry of Tourism Sarawak will feature various interesting and fun-filled programmes and activities like food fest, nostalgic exhibition, P Ramlee Song Duet singing competition, a Ratu Kebaya contest, a decorative boat show and demonstration of traditional games.

10,000 dijangka saksi Pesta Nostalgia Permaidani Kpg Boyan-Gersik-Sourabaya Print E-mail
KUCHING: Pesta Nostalgia Permaidani Kampung Boyan-Gersik-Sourabaya (BGS) akan diadakan buat julung kalinya dengan sekitar 10,000 orang dijangka menyaksikan pesta berkenaan.

Menteri Muda Pelancongan Sarawak Datuk Talib Zulpilip berkata, antara objektif pesta yang berlangsung dari 19 hingga 20 Mac ini itu ialah meningkatkan kesedaran dan penghargaan terhadap amalan-amalan serta budaya lama khususnya pada zaman 60-an yang dipraktikkan oleh penduduk di sekitar tebingan Kuching (Sungai Sarawak).

Kpg Boyan-Gersik-Sourabaya festival March 19 Print E-mail
KUCHING: The Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) will hold a festival called 'Permaidani Kampung Boyan-Gersik-Sourabaya (BBGS)' on March 19 and 20.

The event will be held at Tapak Permaidani Kampung BGS here, said the corporation's chairman Datuk Talib Zulpilip yesterday during a press conference in his office.

Talib urges the people to remain united Print E-mail
KUCHING: We do not have the time to be divided although some quarters want us to be divided, said the Assistant Minister of Tourism and Heritage Datuk Haji Talib Zulpilip when he officiated at the "Celebration of Prosperity 2010" at the Kuching Waterfront here last Wednesday night.

"Let them do it but we must remain united. This is an appeal to fellow Malaysians to live together. We have been happy and why should we start fighting now? Of course, things are not always good and according to your liking, but we have to make an effort to live together harmoniously," he explained.

Damai bay Bazaar to liven up Damai Print E-mail
KUCHING: Damai Bay Bazaar (DBB), located at Teluk Bandung Damai, is the latest project of Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) to turn the not easily accessible seafront into an oasis of leisure and recreation.

It stretches along a natural scenic bay facing the South China Sea, right in the middle of Damai Beach. Resort, Damai Puri Resort and Spa, and Sarawak Cultural Village which covers approximately eight acres.

Kapit has potential in commercial chicken-rearing Print E-mail
KAPIT: Assistant Minister of Tourism Datuk Haji Talib Zulpilip suggests that the people here venture into serious and big scale chicken-rearing by taking advantage of the large tracts of land in the town's outskirts.

The chicken-rearing idea came about after seeing stacks of chicken eggs being transported via express boat from Sibu to this interior town. The Assistant Minister was on that express boat.

Ministry keen on wooing tourists to Kapit Print E-mail
KAPIT: The Ministry of Tourism and Heritage has proposed to organise a tourism course in Kapit before this year's Gawai Dayak to woo more tourist to the rural town.

Its assistant minister Datuk Talib Zulpilip, who is also Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) Chairman, who disclosed this, said `Rajang River Cruise' would be one of the course topics.
