Love-In-A-Box is an annual community project organized by SEDC Sarawak with the objective to help the needy and less fortunate through distribution of gifts to them across all communities.

Recipients
The recipients are identified with the help of welfare and social organizations/groups, religious and voluntary bodies. More than 50% of the recipients are children (from infant to 17 years old) and the rest are families and elderly folks.
 
Contributors
Since the project debut in year 2000, contributors include;

  • Management and staff of financial institutions

  • Management and staff of private sector corporations and companies

  • Management and staff from the public sector

  • Management and teaching staff, and students from schools

  • Individuals

Contributions
Contributions are in the form of presents for the children and food items for the families and elderly folks. Some corporate sponsors contribute thousands of cardboard boxes, project flyers and wrapping papers, etc.  Other companies and some school adopt Love-In-A-Box as one of their annual social/community activities. Several local hotels are also involved in collecting and distributing presents as well as hosting parties for the recipients.
 
Volunteers
Many individuals, schools, corporations and uniformed groups have volunteered their time and effort in manning the gifts collection booths, which are normally set up in the month of November in major shopping centers in Kuching, and in sorting and delivering the presents. The Boys Brigade is one such group that has shown such spirit of volunteerism every year.
