SEDC together with its hotels, Holiday Inn Kuching and Crowne Plaza Riverside hotels, renamed Grand Margherita Hotel and  Riverside Majestic Hotel hosted a "Majlis Berbuka Puasa" or breaking of the fast with the children from the orphanage, PERYATIM Sarawak.

Chief Minister of Sarawak, YAB Pehin Sri Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud and his wife YABhg Datuk Amar Puan Sri Dr. Hajah Laila Taib were invited to grace the event.

The annual event is held during Ramadhan or the fasting month at Poolside, Grand Margherita Hotel.
