TYT receives two courtesy calls

KUCHING: A delegation from the 8th International Kite Festival committee led by its Chairman Datuk Haji Talib Zulpilip, paid a courtesy call on Head of State Tun Datuk Patinggi Abang Haji Muhammad Salahuddin, at the Astana here, yesterday.

The purpose of the visit was to invite His Excellency to the kite festival which will be held from 29 to 30 Sept at the old Bintulu airport. The 8th International Kite Festival is organised by Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) in collaboration with Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC), Ministry of Tourism and Heritage, Tourism Ministry of Malaysia, Sarawak Tourism Board (STB), Bintulu Resident and District Office, Bintulu Kite Club and other government departments and agencies.

Tourism Minister Datuk Amar Abang Haji Johari Tun Openg will launch the festival on 26 September. Also in the delegation yester-day were BDA General Manager Datu Haji Mohidin Ishak and Bintulu Resident Yakup Kari.Meanwhile, the Police Director of Management from BukitAman, CP Datuk Mortadza Nazarene and State Police Commissioner DCP Datuk Acryl Sani Abdullah also paid a courtesy call on the Head of State yesterday.

The purpose of the visit by the two senior police officers was to invite His Excellency to a din¬ner at Pullman Hotel here today (Friday) in conjunction with His Excellency's 91st birthday, being organised by the police.
