SEDC holds basic entrepreneurial course

SIMUNJAN: Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) held motivation and basic entrepreneurial course for 1AZAM aid recipients at Dewan Setia of Simunjan District Council here, recently. The course coordinator Hamzah Ibrahim said the programmes comprised briefings for the participants who were qualified to receive the 1AZAM aid.

"The participants are qualified to receivee to receive the 1AZAM aid to assist them to start their businesses. "This course equips the participants with basic business and entrepreneurship knowlwdge so that they can start their business in proper and smart manner," he said. Hamzah hoped that tile course participants would not abuse the aid and assistance provided.

Meanwhile, one of the particpants, Asban Lani, 55, who operates a retail shops at Kampung Gedong, said the course was very useful and it provided valuable knowledge for running a business. Lijong ak Gisang, 56, from Kampung Skitong in Sebangan, said the course provided him with basic business accounting and he hoped he could run his retail shop more better after attending the course. Fatimah binti Bujang, 52, a traditional cake seller from Kampung Melayu in Sebuyau, hoped SEDC could conduct further business courses in the near future because such courses really benefitted the participants.

The one day course was, attended by 37 small time enterpreneurs from Simunjan, Sadong Jaya, Gedong, Sebangan and Sebuyau. The course was conducted by Haji Masri Haili from SEDC, who later presented business capital aid in the form of cheques to the participants.
