The companies involved in the Livestock activities are: ROSEWOOD STATION PTY LTD This SEDC-owned, Australian-registered company owns a 280,000-hectare cattle breeding station in the Northern Territory, Australia with 28,000 heads of cattle; and a 14,711-hectare cattle fattening station at Strathmere-Beardie Aggregation, St. George, Queensland, Australia. ![]() Rosewood Station Pty Ltd, Northern Territory, Australia Rosewood Cattle Breeding Station Strathmere-Beardie Aggregation is an ideal place for fattening cattle from Rosewood Station and farms from the surrounding areas. (iii) Abattoir Services
The Kuching Abattoir provides services for the slaughtering of cattle and small ruminants (goat, sheep & deer). It is the only ruminant abattoir in the State with halal certification.
(iv) Cattle Fattening Scheme ![]() Cattle Fattening Scheme PPES Ternak Sdn Bhd supplies cattle to the rural community and undertakes marketing on a buy-back basis. Technical input is provided by the Veterinary Division of the Department of Agriculture. The participants also act as agents for PPES Ternak Sdn Bhd in the sale of live cattle in their own locality.
(v) Cattle Integration In Oil Palm Plantation
Cattle in Oil Palm Plantation The Cattle Integration project is jointly undertaken by the Department of Agriculture (DOA) and SEDC through its subsidiary, PPES Ternak Sdn Bhd with funding from the Federal Government.
The breeder cattle are supplied to oil palm plantation by DOA under the PAWAH Scheme. Under this Scheme, the participating plantation will pay back/return to DOA the same number of animals aged 8 months and above within 5 years. (vi) SEDC is pursuing with its participation in Entry Point Project (EPP) 5 (Cattle Integration in Oil Palm) under the National Key Economic Area (NKEA). The objectives of the project are: 1. To Support the Government’s objective towards increasing livestock population in the country. 2. To maximize output from land use. 3. To benefit oil palm plantations whereby weeds are biologically controlled and the cost of weedicide reduced. |
